What is this ebook about?

This book is about all the unwanted habits we have in our lives. You know... those behaviours that seem to have power over us. The thoughts we keep thinking, the words we keep saying and the things we keep doing, though we don't really want to, that leave us feeling unhappy or stuck - but we just can't seem to stop.

It's also about discovering the power that WE actually have over them.

I have faced and overcome many such "bad habits" in my own life. Yet I continually want to understand more about them. "Why do we keep doing habits we don't really want, that may even be hurting us? And why do I keep doing these things to myself?" This book is about finding some answers to those questions.

For me, running marathons is the ultimate challenge to my mind and body. I breakthrough into a new space of thinking, in which I get my clearest insights. So 12 months ago I set out on a journey. I decided to run 12 marathons and, during each one, focus my intention on understanding why we engage in habits we no longer want and how we can eliminate or transform them. The journey led me to places I did not expect.

The purpose of this book is to share my own story with unwanted habits and addictions. To take you on a journey of discovery about what causes and how to deal with them. And to have you run with me as I do my marathon of marathons.
Here's a taste of what's inside:
I reflected back on my first marathon when I was totally injured and ruined. I was bedridden for nearly a week and in excruciating pain whenever I tried to walk. So you might ask yourself, "If your first experience with a marathon was that painful, why would you ever want to do it again?"

And there's the paradox. Because on the other side of that pain was the deepest sense of peace and emotional freedom I had perhaps ever known. And I felt that, somehow, the experience of being willing to be uncomfortable was a key to breaking free of unwanted habits and living a fulfilled life. For me, running marathons was simply the most intense exercise I could use to train myself to break out of my "addiction to comfort" and my desire to avoid pain at all costs.
